The Colombian Civil Air Patrol brought healthcare professionals to provide medical care to patients in Labranzagrande. Through the efforts of Labranzagrande’s mayor, Jorge Enrique Vanegas Pulido, residents received specialized treatment for various illnesses without having to leave their town.
“In a historic initiative, and thanks to the coordinated work with the Colombian Civil Air Patrol, more than 700 people were treated in less than three days, bringing hope and real solutions to hundreds of families, especially those in rural areas,” stated the municipal administration.
The most remarkable achievement of this mission was that, for the first time in the province of La Libertad, specialized surgeries were performed, marking a before-and-after moment in access to healthcare.
A total of 16 Pomeroy procedures and 20 pterygium surgeries were carried out, improving the quality of life for dozens of residents who had waited years for this opportunity.
But the mission also left a deeply human moment that moved the entire community: a pregnant woman from a rural area arrived for a medical check-up without imagining she was about to give birth.
Thanks to the quick response of the ESE Health Center team and the professionals from the Civil Air Patrol, a successful delivery was achieved on Saturday, symbolizing life, hope, and the true meaning of service.
“Amid a complex national healthcare situation, Labranzagrande proves that it is possible to close gaps and reach those who need it most when there is determination and leadership,” said the mayor.
He added that this achievement was also the result of the commitment of social manager Jenny Carolina Monroy, the ESE Health Center, and a team of volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this brigade an example of organization, efficiency, and humanity.
“Labranzagrande does not stop moving forward, and today its people feel, more than ever, that progress is truly arriving,” emphasized the mayor.
